If a student and/or teacher is attempting to access Amira, but getting a blank screen with clouds on it, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Log out of your Amira account and completely close out your browser

  2. Clear your browser's cookies or open a private browser window; refer to How do I clear the cookies and cache?

  3. Open your browser and log back into HMH Ed > Amira

  4. Start reading a story with Amira

  5. Run a speed test (min speed for a classroom is 10 download, 10 upload) https://www.speedtest.net

Note: Students using iPads can only access Amira using the Safari browser. iPads should be configured prior to student use for best results. Teachers accessing the Amira Teacher Portal will need to access via a computer - iPads and tablets are not supported at this time.

Note: If you have tried the steps above and are still unable to log in, check that your school or district IT administrator has checked that your content filters are compatible: What are the tech requirements for Amira?

Note: If the school or district does not allow students to remove browsing history, a school administrator with access to controls will need to follow these steps for the student.
